Imphal: Power supply is a basic need of human beings after food, clothing and shelter to survive and thrive in their normal routine as it facilitates education, security, safe move at night, routine functioning of all villages and infrastructure development especially in remote areas where permanent electricity/ power supply arrangements are inadequate.
Commencement of electrification in certain areas in the Churachandpur district was stalled for more than nine months due to the prevailing situation in Manipur.
Addressing this essential need of the people of remote villages, security forces distributed solar lights at Chahnou, Thenjol and Tuilakjang villages of Churachandpur, district under Assam Rifles Civic Action Program for the Financial Year 2023-2024 on 02 Mar 2024.
The initiative aimed to distribute solar lights in remote villages as this option is eco-friendly and low maintenance, according to a press note from the PRO, IGAR(S).
