Imphal: In a joint operation, Assam Rifles, with the assistance of villagers of Maungzang village, Churachandpur District of Manipur, Manipur Police personnel, forest department representatives, and NAB representatives, destroyed approximately four acres of illegal poppy cultivation.

The villagers were made aware of the damaging consequences of illegal poppy cultivation for the society, youth & environment after which they appreciated the efforts of the civil administration in assisting them to destroy the poppy plants. The villagers also pledged against further plantation in their area.

Such proactive measures by security forces reinforce the community’s trust in law enforcement while curbing illegal activities. By working together, security forces, civil administration, and villagers are taking a stand against narcotics, fostering hope, resilience, and a safer future for the region, stated a press note from the PRO, IGAR(S).
