Lucknow: Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday appealed to the people of the state to observe the 30th of every month as ‘Hathras Ki Beti Memorial Day’ so that the anti-Dalit face of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) can be exposed.
Akhilesh tweeted and said, “There is an appeal to the people of Uttar Pradesh, SP and allies to celebrate ‘Hathras Ki Beti Memorial Day’ on 30th of every month, in order to remind the people about the indecent act of burning the body of a rape victim on 30 September last year by the BJP government of Uttar Pradesh. So that the anti-Dalit and anti-women faces of BJP should be exposed.
The Uttar Pradesh Police was accused of burning the body of the Hathras gang-rape victim’s body on September 30 last year and cremating it at midnight without showing it to her family members. Questioning the attitude of the police, the opposition parties had launched a campaign in the name of giving justice to Hathras’s daughter.
