AMWU, EGM condemn attack on journalist

The two media apex bodies also expressed their solidarity with the family of the injured journalist and said it will extend full support.

Imphal: A press release signed jointly by EGM president Khogendra Khomdram and AMWJU acting president S Bokuljao said it considered the attack as an attack on freedom of expression and urged the authorities concerned to take necessary action to book the culprits as soon as possible.

The release also urged all concerned parties to raise any matter concerning any publication of news with the concerned editors first before taking action on any working journalist. If the matter cannot be resolved at the level of the editor concerned, the aggrieved party can bring up the matter to either AMWJU or EGM for resolution. Any direct action on any working journalist will not be tolerated by AMWJU and EGM, it added.
