Mahumud-e-Raqi, Afghanistan: Police have found arms and ammunitions including two rocket propelled grenades in east Afghanistan’s Kapisa province over the past two weeks, and arrested 15 people on charge of keeping weapons illegally, provincial police chief Mohammad Usman Turabi said on Friday.
The contraband included 13 Kalashnikovs, two RPGs, one 82 mm caliber gun, several machine guns and ammunitions including dozens of anti-personnel mines and thousands of bullets, the officer said, adding no one would be allowed to carry arms illegally to disrupt law and order in the province.
Similarly, police forces discovered a mass weapon cache in north Afghanistan’s Balkh province last week.
The Afghan caretaker government has vowed to collect illegal arms and ammunitions to maintain peace and order.
