Amazon offers Rs 1.15 cr package to IIIT Agartala student

Agartala: A final year student of the first Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in the Northeast at Agartala has bagged a job in Berlin with e-commerce giant Amazon against a whopping Rs 1.15 Crore (Euro 1.3 Lakh) package per annum, bringing cheers among the faculty in the three-year old institute.

In a statement on Monday, IIIT Agartala said Subham Raj, an 8th-semester student of B Tech in Computer Science and Engineering and hailing from Kunj Vihar Argora locality of Ranchi, was selected by Amazon during campus placements by offering one of the most lucrative compensation package in the country during the Covid19 pandemic.

Subham, a first batch student of the institute, has been asked to join as a Software Development Engineer in the German city of Berlin in September this year. Subham (21), who previously did an internship in Google last year, was also selected in the Global Competitive drive conducted by Google.

The statement mentioned the students of IIIT-Agartala for the academic year 2021-22 have received the offers at an average annual cost of Rs 22 lakh.

The IIIT-Agartala was set up in 2018 in Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model by the IIIT Act passed by the then Ministry of Human Resource Development (now Education Ministry) in 2014.
