After days of lull, a 5-year-old succumbs to Covid-19 Thursday in Manipur

Meanwhile, 15 people from the general public and one personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) tested Covid-19 positive while three persons recovered

Imphal: Manipur saw a Covid-19 related death after days in the last 24 hours leading up to 5:00 pm of Thursday, taking the state’s cumulative death toll to 375. The latest pandemic victim is a 5-year-old male resident of Bishnupur who expired at Shija Hospital.

During this same period, 15 persons from the  general public and 1 personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) tested Covid-19 positive while three persons recovered, as per an official press note from the Covid-19 Common Control Room

The 15 persons (9 males, 6 female) who tested positive from the general public include 4 each from Jiribam and Bishnupur, 3 each from Imphal West and Imphal East and 1 from Churachandpur.  

Of the 3 persons who recovered, 2 of them were on home isolation while one was admitted to JNIMS. The recovery rate now stands at 98.43%.

Meanwhile, the Health department has instructed air passengers who travelled to the state on April 6 by Indigo flight 6E-6181 in rows 1-6 and passengers who travelled to the state April 7, by Indigo flight 6E-6358 (Kolkata-Imphal) in rows 2-8, on Indigo flight 6E-6181 (Kolkata-Imphal) in rows 4-10 and on Air Asia flight 15 783 in rows 25-31, to inform Covid Common Control Room 1800343818 or respective District Surveillance Officer (DSO).

The cumulative number of positive cases is 29,463 (General Population — 26,011 and Central Security Personnel — 3,452). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 29,001 (General Population — 25,564 and CAPF— 3,437). The number of active cases is 87 (general population 76 and CAPF 11).

As per the latest information, the number of people vaccinated on April 7, is 961 and the cumulative vaccination number is 90551, the release added.

The total number of health care workers who have been vaccinated is 31813 include the Directors of RIMS and JNIMS, CMOs, DFWOs DIOs of districts, chairman cum managing directors of Shija Hospital and Babina Diagnostics’.
