Agartala: All Indian Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishekh Banerjee charged BJP for running a government in Tripura with remote control from New Delhi dishonouring the mandate of the people that became the main instrument of misrule and anti-people governance in the state.
Addressing media on his maiden visit to Tripura on Monday, Banerjee said Biplab Kumar Deb government has adopted terror tactics as a tool of oppression here taking the advantage of virtually
no opposition. And, there was no difference in case of him. The BJP cadres have raised the slogan ‘Abhishekh Banerjee go back’ in several places right from outside the airport to the entire stretch up
to Tripureswari temple in Udaipur.
In the name of offering thanks to Biplab Deb for covering a large section of people in Covid vaccine, BJP workers were mobilised on the road with sticks and rods who attacked his convey in many places, he alleged adding that in the vehicle on which Abhishekh was travelling to Udaipur was hit by the unruly cadres but police played a mute rule. Three of his security personnel were injured.
“In one place near Bishalgarh school students had been mobilised to block the road and I had to walk down and talk to them to clear the road. I have seen some BJP leaders watching the scene from a nearby area and the police have no rule. When an elected MP was attacked it’s easy to understand the situation of Tripura and I demand Chief Minister has to resign as an MP is attacked in his state,” Banerjee alleged.
He threatened that BJP cannot stop TMC by resorting to violence and adopting terror tactics and said, “Each attack on our worker in Tripura from today will be considered an assault on Mamata Banerjee. We shall not leave a single inch of land to BJP until the formation of Trinamool government in Tripura.”
Comparing the law and order situation of Tripura under Biplab Kumar Deb government, Banerjee said, “I came first in 2016 during Manik Sarkar’s rule and had witnessed the distressed condition but after five years today I have seen how worse it is under BJP. I know Biplab is a puppet of Delhi and has already become a laughing stock for loose talk and illiterate statements, which downgrade the status of the people of Tripura.”
“We are not intended to break the government by horse-trading like BJP did in West Bengal and TMC wants BJP should complete it’s tenure and face TMC in elections with the achievement of their poll promises, they had made in 2018. We come to restore democracy and the lost glories of Tripura – not to indulge unethical politics and foul play with BJP. I challenge Biplab Deb and his party if they can, stop me and my party by any means. I shall come every week here and we shall not leave a day without a leader of our central committee till next election,” he pointed out.
“I shall come again in two weeks of time and declare state committee and executives and by end of the year, Trinamool will have a stronghold in each of the 3324 booths. Our commitment is to bring governance here at the doorstep like West Bengal and we don’t want to cheat people with false promises like the job on a missed call, 50,000 govt jobs annually and cheat the jobless 10,323 teachers,” he added.
