Malappuram: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) sleuths attached to Karipur International Airport seized Rs 44 crore worth of cocaine and heroin from a passenger hailing from Uttar Pradesh who arrived from Sharjah on an Air Arabia flight on Tuesday.
According to DRI sources, they arrested Rajeev Kumar of Mussafar Nagar in Uttar Pradesh, who arrived from Nairobi in Kenya and boarded an Air Arabia flight from Sharjah with 3.5 kilograms of cocaine and 1.290 kilograms of heroin, totaling around Rs 44 crore in the international market.
The drugs were seized from his possession, and they were concealed inside the bags, shoes, and money purse. DRI officials said a medical examination would be conducted on the arrested persons, and they would be produced before the court.
