Three wards in Guwahati declared as containment zones

Guwahati: To contain the surge in COVID 19 cases, three wards of Guwahati has been declared as containment zones. The decision has been taken because the “test positivity of COVID-19 has crossed more than 10pc in certain municipal wards in Guwahati city during the last one week”.

The wards that have been declared containment zones by the Kamrup (M) district administration are Ward no 28, 16, and 8.

The localities that fall under these eight wards are Beltola, Basistha, Fatashil Ambari, Barshapara, Dhirenpara, Kumarpara, AT Road, Machkhowa, Bhootnath, Khanapara, Panjabari, Hatigaon, Ulubari, Rehabari, DGP Complex, Bilpara, Salapara, Pandu, Maligaon, Narengi and Banda.

Guwahati in the last 20 days has recorded 17,690 COVID-19 positive cases and over 100 deaths.

Meanwhile, Assam’s COVID-19 scenario continues to be grim. Assam recorded its highest single-day fatalities of 41 COVID-19 patients on Tuesday taking the total number of deaths to 1,430.

Around 4,475 new positive cases were detected on Tuesday, out of which 1,417 are from in and around Guwahati city.
