Kangpokpi: As part of the nationwide “Seva Sankalp Abhiyan” under the “Aangan Ka Utsav” initiative, medical officers conducted an official visits to various Anganwadi centres in the Kangpokpi Sub-Division (Wards 11 & 3) and Kalapahar Aganwadi centre under the Champhai Sub-Division. The visits focused on community outreach, raising awareness on maternal and child nutrition, promoting sanitization, and prioritizing infant health through the network of Anganwadi centres.
In alignment with the goals of Aangan Ka Utsav, Medical Superintendent Dr. Nengpilhing Misao and Dr. Chongnu, Medical Officer-in-Charge (Kalapahar PHC) of the District Health Society, Kangpokpi, interacted with Anganwadi and ASHA workers in the presence of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Supervisor.
Addressing the gathering, the Medical Officers emphasized that ASHA and Anganwadi workers are not merely a support team, but the true backbone of the grassroots healthcare system, bridging the gap between medical science and the heart of the community. Furthermore, Dr. Nengpilhing Misao delivered key insights on maternal and child nutrition, highlighting critical health pillars essential for infants. She underscored the importance of regular infant health check-ups and strongly advocated for exclusive breastfeeding for infants under six months of age, addressing both Anganwadi workers and parents in attendance. During the visit, the Medical Officers also directly interacted with pregnant women in attendance and conducted health check-ups.
The outreach program witnessed enthusiastic participation from the concerned ICDS Supervisor, Medical Officers-in-Charge, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and local parents, among others.
