Churachandpur : In response to the increasing incidence of dengue in Churachandpur district, the Assam Rifles has undertaken a proactive community welfare initiative to strengthen preventive measures against the mosquito-borne disease. Commencing on 25 August 2026, an intensive fogging and anti-mosquito spraying drive has been underway across vulnerable locations in the region.
The ongoing preventive operation has successfully covered nine key locations comprising schools, hostels, children’s institutions, churches and villages at Mata, New Lamka, Hiangtam Lamka, T Phaizang, Saikot, Muolvaiphei and Buallian. The systematic activities focus on areas heavily frequented by students and local residents to curb mosquito proliferation and minimise the risk of transmission. This vital public health initiative has directly benefited approximately 2,000 students and 2,800 local residents, with special emphasis dedicated to safeguarding vulnerable sections in educational and community spaces. The drive remains ongoing with plans to cover additional vulnerable areas as required.
