Ukhrul: In a major initiative towards empowering female talent in the region, the Commander of 10 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of 18 Assam Rifles, visited the Assam Rifles’ Centre of Educational Excellence (ARCEE) at Somsai Garrison in Ukhrul District, Manipur on 07 September 2026. The visit featured a close interaction with 32 young female aspirants undergoing a year-long residential coaching programme for NEET and other competitive examinations. The initiative provides meritorious Class XII girl students with a structured, secure and conducive environment dedicated to academic excellence, leadership and personal growth.
During the interaction, the Commander enquired about their academic preparations and urged them to stay focused, disciplined and steadfast in pursuing their medical and professional aspirations. Emphasising that true empowerment begins with access to quality education, he highlighted the pivotal role of women in nation-building while inspiring them to strive for self-reliance and shatter glass ceilings. He also offered thoughtful guidance on overcoming homesickness, adapting confidently to competitive environments and assured complete administrative and academic support.
Additionally, the Commander commended the faculty and administrative staff for their dedicated mentorship in shaping the scholars’ futures. The interaction concluded with a group photograph and an informal exchange of ideas. Reaffirming the core ethos of “Friends of the Hill People”, Assam Rifles continues to nurture the potential of North East’s youth, paving the way for a confident, empowered and self-reliant generation of women leaders.
