Assam Rifles organises multi-sport events in Manipur

Imphal: Assam Rifles organised multi-sport initiatives across Chandel and Tengnoupal Districts of Manipur, reinforcing community engagement, physical fitness and youth development in the border region.

At T Nampao, Chandel District, Assam Rifles organized and conducted the T Nampao Sports Feast from 14 to 17 August 2026. The event featured the 09 Men’s Soccer Cup, drawing 30 teams from Moreh in Tengnoupal District, alongside Khenjoi, New Samtal and surrounding areas in Chandel District. Assam Rifles personnel also fielded a team in the tournament, fostering mutual camaraderie with local sports enthusiasts. The extravaganza included Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Tournaments with 10 teams participating in each category, highlighting gender inclusivity. Students from T Nampao School and adjacent schools added vibrancy through colourful cultural performances, as 12 Village Chiefs and nearly 400 local spectators gathered to demonstrate robust community unity.

Concurrently, Assam Rifles conducted a two-day Badminton Competition at Tengnoupal Town, Tengnoupal District, on 17 and 18 August 2026. The tournament saw enthusiastic participation from 13 teams comprising 26 players competing in a spirited yet cordial atmosphere. Beyond match play, Assam Rifles personnel engaged directly with the participants, motivating young individuals to cultivate leadership, discipline, resilience and fair play. Outstanding performers were felicitated during the closing ceremony.

Through these constructive sports events, Assam Rifles continues to channel youth energy positively while strengthening mutual trust, harmony and social development across the region.
