Kakching: The District Administration Kakching conducted a full dress rehearsal today at the District Sports Association (DSA) Ground, Kakching Turel Wangma, Kakching as part of preparations for the 80th Independence Day celebration on August 15.
The parade was commanded by Khundrakpam Hemabati, MPS, SDPO Kakching with contingents from the Indian Reserve Batallion (IRB), Civil Police contingent, Village Defence Force (VDF), Traffic Police, Armed Veteran/Ex-Servicemen, ASHA worker, Grace Cottage Academy, PR English School, Wabagai Higher Secondary School, JNV Umathel, Grace Cottage Academy (Girls), Martin Grammar School (Girls), Kakching Higher Secondary School(Boys), PR English School (Girls), Kakching Public School(Girls), Victory High School(Girls), Waikhong High School (Girls), JRD Path Seekers’ Academy(Boys), Wabagai Higher Secondary School(Girls), Iramdam Maheikol(IMA) and Southern Manipur Band Party Academy participating in the event.
Deputy Commissioner Angeline Renita R, IAS, will hoist the national flag and take the salute from the march past contingents at the DSA Ground on August 15. On the day, altogether a total of 3 cultural troupes will perform in the Independence Day celebration.
Ahead of the Independence Day celebration, the DC Office Complex has been lit up in vibrant tricolour lights. Meanwhile, Kakching Municipal Council (KMC) officials and staff have been actively conducting cleanliness drive at various locations as a part of the preparations for the Independence Day celebration.
On the other hand, the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign has been gaining momentum with participation from various Government officials, school students and teachers. The initiative is aimed at encouraging citizens to hoist the National Flag and participate in activities celebrating patriotism, national unity and India’s cultural heritage. The campaign is being observed from 9 to 17 August, 2026.
