Kakching: A district-level Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan programme was organised at Kha Manipur College by Mera Yuva Bharat, Kakching under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, in collaboration with the NCC and NSS Units of Kha Manipur College.
The programme was attended by Dr. O. Rudrababu Singh, Principal, Kha Manipur College; Vishal Dhakad, District Youth Officer, Mera Yuva Bharat, Kakching and Yengkhom Raju Singh, former Principal, Kha Manipur College as presidium members.
As part of the programme, district-level competitions were conducted in various categories namely Dance, Music, Slam Poetry, Slogan Writing, One-Act Play, Painting and Debate.
In the competitions, Tanem Morio Maring secured first position in Music, while Leishangthem Anjali Chanu and Nongmaithem Vladimir secured first and second positions respectively in Dance. Nongthombam Bidyasagori Devi and Leishangthem Harison Singh secured first and second positions respectively in Slogan Writing.
Mayangbam Avinash secured first position in One-Act Play, while Yendrembam Mona Devi and Shagolsem Eliya Devi secured first and second positions respectively in Painting. Nongmaithem Priyadarshini and Staneviya Yumnam Chanu secured first and second positions respectively in Slam Poetry. In Debate, Moirangthem Randeep Singh secured the first position. Certificates and mementoes were distributed to the winners at the end of the programme.
The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) is a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment launched on 15 August 2020 to address substance abuse. Initially launched in 272 vulnerable districts, the campaign has since been extended across the country, focusing on awareness, prevention, counselling, treatment, rehabilitation and social reintegration.
It particularly targets youth, women, children, educational institutions and communities, promoting a whole-of-society approach towards a drug-free India.
