Chandel: Reaffirming its steadfast commitment towards youth empowerment, nation-building and creating meaningful employment opportunities, Assam Rifles organised a Registration-cum-Selection drive for a Pre-Recruitment Training Programme at Modi in Chandel District on 01 August 2026. The initiative was conducted to screen and shortlist motivated local youth who aspire to join the Indian Armed Forces as Agniveer and Territorial Army personnel.
The registration and selection process witnessed an overwhelming response, with 175 aspirants, comprising 125 male and 50 female candidates, participating enthusiastically. The candidates underwent initial registration, document verification, preliminary medical screening and physical fitness assessments. Out of these, 50 candidates, comprising 34 male and 16 female aspirants, successfully met the eligibility criteria and subsequently appeared for a written examination. Evaluation of the written test and further document verification are currently underway to finalise the list of candidates selected for the pre-recruitment training programme, scheduled to be held from 10 August to 10 October 2026.
Those shortlisted will undergo two months of structured guidance by experienced Assam Rifles instructors, focusing on physical endurance, written examination preparedness, personality development, communication skills and mental resilience. The strong participation and initial shortlisting of 16 female candidates highlight the growing enthusiasm among young women to pursue military careers. This transparent selection process ensures deserving youth are empowered with the necessary skills and confidence to excel in upcoming recruitment rallies.
