Chandel: Assam Rifles organised a comprehensive civil-military coordination meeting at L Thinglhangphai village in Chandel district, Manipur on 15 July 2026, actively promoting regional stability and holistic community growth. Serving as a vital platform for open dialogue, the high-level event successfully brought together security officials with 20 local stakeholders like prominent community leaders, village chiefs, secretaries and youth representatives from L Thinglhangphai, Ch. Molhem, V. Haipijang, Y. Thingkangphai, K. Phallen and Vangkho, who participated to jointly address immediate border challenges and long-term socio-economic development goals.
The extensive discussions focused heavily on monsoon preparedness, establishing robust mechanisms to tackle weather-related disruptions to road connectivity and ensuring an uninterrupted logistics supply of daily essentials, medicines and groceries to remote pockets. Reviewing the local security climate, the participants collectively acknowledged the tangible improvement in the ground situation and reiterated their shared commitment to sustaining long-term peace.
Emphasising youth welfare, the platform prioritised the early resumption of educational institutions. To facilitate this immediately, plans were proposed to relocate the Temporary Operating Base from local school premises to an alternative site, complemented by an upcoming stationery distribution drive. The collaborative framework also prioritised vital infrastructure and environmental initiatives, fast-tracking the restoration of damaged power transmission lines. Furthermore, the meeting finalised proposals to install a reverse osmosis drinking water plant at L Thinglhangphai and launch a massive community-driven plantation drive, underscoring a mutual dedication to sustainable development.
