Imphal: Assam Rifles organised a comprehensive community outreach programme at Yumnam Khunou village within Imphal East district today. Conceived against the backdrop of the prevailing security environment, the initiative provided a vital interactive platform for security forces to engage directly with local residents, address core security concerns and cultivate public confidence.
A total of 37 villagers, comprising 15 men and 22 women, actively participated in the dialogue, offering critical feedback on matters affecting their daily routines, farming activities and accessibility to essential public services. During the sessions, community members highlighted persistent challenges regarding everyday movement, local safety parameters and the highly detrimental impact of unverified rumours during periods of heightened tension in the valley. Apprising the gathering of active countermeasures, a combined contingent of senior officials and troops detailed the continuous security and humanitarian protocols being executed, including regular area domination patrols, enhanced deployment along vulnerable transit routes and rapid response mechanisms. The local population was subsequently sensitised to the critical importance of maintaining robust coordination with security forces, verifying information pipelines and promptly reporting suspicious movements to prevent public disorder. This sustained interaction successfully deepened mutual trust and paved the path for responsive security solutions conducive to absolute regional normalcy and long term development.
