Chandel holds All-party meeting on electoral roll revision

Chandel: An All Political Parties Meeting on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Electoral Roll was held today at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Chandel District. The meeting was chaired by Md. Firoz Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) and Electoral Registration Officer (ERO).

During the meeting, Md. Firoz Khan briefed representatives of various political parties on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) being undertaken by the Election Commission of India (ECI). He stated that the SIR is being conducted with the objective of ensuring maximum participation, complete inclusion of all eligible electors and maintaining full transparency throughout the electoral roll revision process.

Highlighting the progress made in Chandel District, the ADC/ERO informed that as of June 28, 2026, 38,075 out of 44,745 electors had submitted their Enumeration Forms. He said the exercise was carried out by Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), Booth Level Officers (BLOs), volunteers and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) appointed by political parties.

Md. Firoz Khan further informed that the Claims and Objections period will remain open from July 5 to August 4, 2026, during which genuine electors whose names are missing can apply for inclusion in the electoral rolls. He also stated that the names of electors found enrolled at multiple places will be retained only at one place in accordance with the prescribed guidelines. The final Electoral Roll will be published on September 6, 2026.

Representatives of political parties were urged by the ADC/ERO to extend full cooperation in creating awareness among voters and ensuring that every eligible elector is included in the electoral roll.
