Kamjong observes International day of cooperatives 2026

The International Day of Cooperatives is observed worldwide on the first Saturday of July every year to promote social justice, community resilience, and global solidarity.

Kamjong: Kamjong District today observed the International Day of Cooperatives 2026 under the theme ‘Cooperatives for a peaceful world’ by organising an awareness and motivation programme for Primary Agricultural Credit Societies/LAMPS at the community hall of  Ramrei Village, Phungyar Block.

The programme was organised by DCO, Kamjong and Imaram LAMPS Ltd. in association with Registrar of Coperative Societies, Manipur and District Administration Kamjong.

Speaking on the occasion, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Manipur W. Ibohal Singh highlighted that the growth and development of a village depends on the economic activities taking place in that particular village. He further stated that cooperative societies

played a crucial role in the shaping the economy

District Cooperative Officer, Kamjong L. Chingkheinganba, President, Imaram LAMPS & Federation of LAMPS N. Shaiza, Officials of different Government Departments, Church leaders and members of different cooperative societies attended the programme among others.

It may be noted that International Day of Cooperatives is celebrated worldwide on the first Saturday of July every year. This year’s theme highlights how cooperative businesses and organisations advance social justice, community resilience, and global solidarity.
