Imphal: In a unique blend of environmental conservation and humanitarian service, the Ningol Van initiative at Lamdeng celebrated the 77th Van Mahotsav, 2026 under the inspiring theme “One Blood, One Tree.” The programme brought together local women, nursing students, official of Central Forest Division, Forest Department Manipur and healthcare professionals in a meaningful campaign that combined mass tree plantation with voluntary blood donation, reinforcing the message that nurturing nature and saving lives go hand in hand.

The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation in a large-scale plantation drive, with participants planting saplings to strengthen green cover and contribute towards ecological restoration. Women from the local women folks, nursing students, worked together, demonstrating the power of collective action in protecting the environment.

The Central Forest Division, Forest Department, Government of Manipur, played a pivotal role in the programme by extending technical guidance and coordinating the plantation activities to ensure the successful establishment of the plantation site. The programme was organized in collaboration with Life Savers Manipur, Pioneer Club Lamdeng, 1979 DMCSC Stalwarts Manipur, the RDO Lamdeng, Lamdeng Apunba Naharol, the State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC), the Central Forest Division, Forest Department, Manipur and Babina Blood Centre, Khabeisoi.

Complementing the plantation drive, a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp was organized at the Auditorium Hall, RDO Lamdeng, where Official of the Central Forest Division, volunteers and members of the public came forward to donate blood. The initiative symbolized the event’s theme “One Blood, One Tree” highlighting that while a tree sustains the environment for generations, a single unit of donated blood has the power to save precious human lives.

The programme beautifully illustrated the inseparable relationship between environmental sustainability and human well-being. Through Ningol Van, the community demonstrated that conservation extends beyond planting trees, it also encompasses compassion, service, and collective responsibility towards society.

Officials of the Central Forest Division appreciated the overwhelming participation of the community and lauded Ningol Van as an exemplary initiative that seamlessly integrates environmental conservation with humanitarian values. They emphasized that such community-led efforts significantly contribute to the objectives of Van Mahotsav, inspiring citizens to actively participate in tree plantation, protect existing forests, and strengthen the State’s green movement through sustained public involvement.

The programme concluded with a collective pledge by all participants to continue planting and nurturing trees, promote voluntary blood donation, and work together towards building a greener, healthier, and more resilient Manipur for future generations.
