Imphal: Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh said that under the newly launched Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G), job card holders will now be entitled to 125 days of guaranteed employment instead of the earlier 100 days under MGNREGA.
The Chief Minister made the above statement while attending the State-Level Jan Sammelan-cum-Launching Programme of Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G), organised by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Government of Manipur, at Salam Tharojam Eco Tourism Park, Imphal West, today.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister stressed that, under (VB-G RAM G) the daily wages have also been increased from Rs. 283 to Rs. 300. The (VB-G RAM G) initiative would help in fulfilling the dream of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, he added.
Nemcha Kipgen, Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, who attended the programme through video conferencing stated that the real development begins in the village. She continued that VB–G RAM G should also become a platform for convergence. By linking it with agriculture, horticulture, watershed development, soil conservation, Jal Jeevan Mission, rural water conservation, and NRLM livelihood initiatives, we can create durable, useful, and climate-resilient assets for our rural communities, she said.
Delivering his presidential speech, Sorokhaibam Rajen Singh, MLA lauded the peace initiative of the Chief Minister in visiting areas that had remained inaccessible due to the law-and-order situation.
Sumant Singh, Commissioner, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, (RD & PR) stated that the scheme was passed by Parliament on 19 December 2025. Under the new scheme, each Gram Panchayat will prepare its own development plan and will be graded under categories A, B, C and D. He further informed that the grading will be carried out by the State Government and that the entire programme will be based on the PM GatiShakti geospatial portal.
The nationwide launching of the programme was led by the Union Minister for Rural Development (RD) and Panchayati Raj (PR) Shivraj Singh Chouhan at Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
Khemchand Singh, along with other dignitaries, planted saplings as part of the programme.
The programme was attended by Khuraijam Loken Singh, Minister for Arts & Culture and Tourism; MLAs Karam Shyam Singh (Langthabal AC), Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh (Konthoujam AC), and Sapam Kunjakeswor (Keba) Singh (Patsoi AC), Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West, Staff of RD & PR and the locals among others.
