Kamjong district vaccinates 1,562 children in pulse polio drive

Health workers, including ASHAs and Anganwadi workers, conducted house-to-house visits on 29 and 30 June, vaccinating 226 children who had missed the first day.

Kamjong: The 3-day Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization campaign (IPPI), which was carried out across Kamjong District from 28th to 30th June, 2026, to protect children below 5 years of age against poliomyelitis concluded today.

During the campaign, a total of 1,562 children were given polio vaccine covering 139 villages in the district. On the first day, 1,336 children were administered two drops of polio vaccine at the polio booths being set up across the district including 33 children vaccinated at transit points and bazaar areas.

House to house visits were also carried out by health workers including ASHAs and Anganwadi workers on 29th and 30th June to vaccinate any children missed out on the first day. During the house visit, children numbering 226 were vaccinated.

Block wise, 446 children were given polio vaccine in Kamjong and Sahamphung Block, while 678 and 438 children were vaccinated in Phungyar and Kasom Blocks respectively.

Mention may be made that a launching programme of the immunization campaign was held at Lairam Khullen Village under Kasom Block on 28th June, 2026.
