Kakching marks International Day against Drug Abuse with painting competition

The painting competition engaged 80 students, encouraging them to express anti-drug messages through art.

Kakching: The District Social Welfare Office, Kakching under the supervision of the District Administration Kakching today observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, 2026 by organising District Level Spot Painting Competition for school students of Class VI to X at DC Office Complex in Kakching District.

Angeline Renita, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Kakching distributed cash rewards to the winners of the competition. First prize winner Moirangthem Token Meitei of Class X from Grace Cottage Academy received a cash reward of Rs 5000/-; Aryabhatta of Class VII from Martin Grammar received Rs 3000/- as second prize and Moirangthem Lanchenbi Meitei of Grace Cottage Academy got Rs 2000/- as third prize.

Whereas, Elangbam Akash Singh of Class X from Pole Star School, Naorem Devit Singh of Class X from PR English School and Rofiya Mayengbam of Class VII from Mary Immaculate Catholic School received Rs 1000/- each as consolation prize. 80 school students took part in the painting competition.

Also, the day was also jointly observed by Social Welfare Office, Kakching and Kha-Manipur Yoga & Nature Cure Association, Kakching at IRCA (Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts), Kakching.

It may be mentioned that various activities have been organised in the district as a part of Nasha Mukt Bharat Saptah as a precursor to the observance of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, 2026.
