Kakching: In a major boost to regional sporting talent, the Assam Rifles provided vital training and dietary assistance to Master Kshetrimayum Langamba Singh, a rising ultra-marathon prodigy from Sugnu in the Kakching district, during a felicitation ceremony held at the Kakching Garrison. The gesture re-emphasised the commitment of the force to nurture young athletic excellence while fostering resilience among the youth facing socio-political and geographical challenges in Manipur.

A total of twenty officials and troops gathered to honour the young athlete and present him with essential sports aids. Langamba Singh, the son of Kshetrimayum Samananda Singh, has quickly emerged as the sports face of Manipur after securing the first position in both the grueling 100-kilometre Dudhsagar Ultra Trail Marathon in Goa and the India Ultra Marathon Club event in Manipur in 2025.

The essential sports gear and dietary support provided at Kakching will bolster his rigorous training for the upcoming Surya Spiti Marathon 2026, scheduled to take place in the high-altitude Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh from 28 to 30 August 2026. This grueling event involves a 77-kilometre Kunzum La Challenge alongside a full marathon at altitudes exceeding 11,000 feet. Driven by a dream to represent India globally and eventually serve the nation by joining the Indian Army or the Assam Rifles, Langamba’s extraordinary perseverance stands as an inspiring beacon of hope and progressive development for the entire region.
