Imphal: Governor of Manipur and Chairman of the Manipur State Kala Akademi, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, today inaugurated the 52nd All Manipur Shumang Leela Festival at Th. Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Imphal, celebrating the rich tradition and enduring cultural legacy of Shumang Leela. As part of the inaugural ceremony, the Governor released the Festival Brochure and a Seminar Book. Khuraijam Loken Singh, Minister of Art and Culture and Vice-Chairman, Manipur State Kala Akademi, Imphal, also attended the function.
The Governor, along with the Minister, distributed prizes to the winners of the 51st All Manipur Shumang Leela Festival, honouring their dedication and contribution to the State’s rich cultural tradition.
Highlighting the rich tradition and cultural significance of Shumang Leela, Governor of Manipur said that the 52nd All Manipur Shumang Leela Festival is not merely a celebration of theatre, but a tribute to the living heritage of Manipur. For decades, Shumang Leela has remained the people’s theatre, preserving our cultural identity, reflecting the conscience of society, and carrying powerful messages of morality, justice, peace and harmony. He appealed to all artistes to continue using this cherished art form as a medium to promote unity, reconciliation and humanity above division.
