Kakching District administration appeals for aadhaar updation

Kakching: The District Administration Kakching has appealed to the students, parents and guardians to actively participate in Aadhaar enrolment and updation camps to be organised across schools in the district to ensure that all eligible students possess updated Aadhaar credentials.

Phurailatpam Bhavananda Sharma (MCS), Additional District Magistrate, Kakching informed that biometric updation camps had earlier been organised on several occasions, but the response was unsatisfactory. He noted that Aadhaar has become an essential document for students for various purposes including scholarship applications, school and college admissions, and other official requirements. He added that in view of its growing importance, the District Administration has planned to organise special Aadhaar service camps in schools for enrolment and updation of Aadhaar details. 

Regarding service charges, the ADM informed that the first mandatory biometric updates including fingerprint, iris and photograph is completely free of cost for children in the age group of 5 to 7 years. Similarly, first or second biometric updates for individuals between 15 and 17 years of age are also completely free. However, biometric updation for persons outside these categories will attract a standard fee of Rs. 125. He further informed that biometric updates for children in the 7–15 years age group will remain free only up to September 30, 2026, after which it will attract the standard charge of Rs 125 fee.

For demographic updates such as name, gender, mobile number, address, date of birth and email ID, the service will be provided free of cost if carried out simultaneously along with biometric updation. Separate demographic updates, however, will cost Rs 75.

The ADM also informed that document updates carried out through the official MyAadhaar portal (https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/portal), will remain completely free till June 14, 2026. Document updates carried out at Aadhaar Centres will attract a fee of Rs 75. He further appealed to the public to report any instance of overcharging for Aadhaar-related services to the concerned SDO, SDC or directly at the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kakching.

The District Administration Kakching also appealed to the parents and guardians to cooperate with Aadhaar operators during camps organised in schools for effective implementation of mandatory biometric updation and Aadhaar enrolment drives. (DIO)
