Imphal: A wildlife relocation and release operation was carried out on 12th May, 2026 at Langol Reserved Forest by the Central Forest Division, Manipur, in the presence of Shri. Vikram Suresh Nadhe (IFS), Divisional Forest Officer, Central Forest Division, along with Shri. Yumnam Kiranjit, Range Forest Officer, Sadar West Range, forest staff, and a Research Scholar from the Department of Zoology, Manipur University.
During the operation, a total of five rescued snakes were safely relocated and released into their natural habitat within the Langol Reserved Forest. The rescued reptiles included one adult Copper-headed Trinket Snake, three Monocled Cobras (out of which two were very large in size), and one Indochinese Rat Snake.
The snakes had earlier been rescued from different locations across Imphal West and Imphal East Districts through coordinated rescue efforts undertaken by the Forest Department.
The Central Forest Division reiterated its commitment towards wildlife conservation and appealed to the public to immediately inform the Forest Department or authorised rescue personnel in case of sightings of wild animals or reptiles in human habitation areas and to refrain from harming wildlife.
