Imphal: Furthering the nationwide build-up towards the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026, Assam Rifles organised yoga activities at Kwatha and Sita on 07 May 2026. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation by officials, troops and local residents, including youth and women from adjoining villages, creating a vibrant atmosphere of collective wellness and community bonding. 

The event commenced with a briefing on the significance of yoga in enhancing physical endurance, mental resilience and disciplined living. Trained instructors guided participants through sessions on yoga postures, breathing exercises and meditation techniques, aimed at improving flexibility, concentration, stress management and overall health. Informal awareness sessions on preventive healthcare and the importance of yoga in daily life were also conducted, reinforcing the theme of “Yoga for Harmony and Peace.” 

The activities provided an effective platform for strengthening civil-military relations, with villagers and personnel practising together in a spirit of unity. The initiative was widely appreciated by participants, particularly in remote border areas where such outreach fosters both awareness and community engagement. The programme concluded with a pledge by all attendees to continue practising yoga regularly and to spread awareness of its benefits, reflecting the shared commitment to holistic health and harmony.
