Imphal : Further to his ongoing visit to Manipur, Lieutenant General Girish Kalia, AVSM, VSM, General Officer Commanding 3 Corps, visited Somsai and Kakching Garrison to review operational preparedness and prevailing security dynamics. He was accompanied by Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) and Senior Officials, reflecting the strong presence of leadership during the engagements.
At Somsai, the Corps Commander was briefed by the Sector Commander on the security situation in Ukhrul and Kamjong. He interacted with personnel and commended the formation for maintaining high standards of professionalism and readiness in sensitive operational areas.
Later at Kakching Garrison, Lieutenant General Kalia was briefed by the Sector Commander on evolving security dynamics and capability enhancement initiatives. He appreciated the sustained efforts of the troops in Counter Insurgency operations and their effective response to emerging challenges. A highlight of the visit was the display of in-house innovations designed to improve surveillance, efficiency and troop effectiveness in demanding terrain. He also toured the Drone Training Laboratory, where he was briefed on the integration of unmanned aerial systems into operational tasks, underscoring the growing importance of technology-driven warfare.
