Governor honours security forces in Manipur

Chief Minister, Yumnam Khemchand Singh, commended the contribution of both the Central and State forces in providing humanitarian services and saving the lives of people from different communities.

Imphal: Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, today graced the
Investiture Ceremony for the Governor’s Unit Citation 2026 at the Manipur State Film Development Society, Imphal. During the solemn ceremony, the Governor presented Governor’s Citations to outstanding units of the Army, Assam Rifles, CRPF, BSF, BRTF, and District Police of Manipur in recognition of their exemplary service in the State. Chief Minister of Manipur, Yumnam Khemchand Singh; Deputy Chief Minister,
Losii Dikho; and Ministers Konthoujam Govindas Singh and Khuraijam Loken Singh also graced the occasion.

Recipients of the Governor’s Unit Citation 2026 were: 19 Garhwal Rifles; 17 Assam Rifles; 38 Assam Rifles; 40 Assam Rifles; 2 Mahar Regiment; 25 BRTF; Kakching District Police; Senapati District Police; Churachandpur District Police; 10 BSF; and 143 CRPF.

Addressing the event, the Governor described the occasion as not merely ceremonial but a moment of reflection, gratitude, and recognition. He paid tribute to the unwavering dedication, courage, and exemplary service of the armed forces, who have worked tirelessly to uphold peace and stability in the State. Referring to the challenging circumstances faced by Manipur in recent years, the Governor noted that the security forces stood firm as pillars of strength, operating under demanding conditions while maintaining law and order and restoring a sense of security among the people.

The Governor also acknowledged the invaluable support and sacrifices of the families of personnel, noting that their strength and encouragement remain integral to the service of the forces, and highlighted that the Governor’s Unit Citation recognises collective excellence, teamwork, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to duty across operations. He emphasised that true strength lies in the judicious and restrained use of force, noting that the conduct of the forces has strengthened public confidence and aided the return of normalcy. He also highlighted the need for continued synergy between the security forces and civil administration, while congratulating the awardees for setting benchmarks of excellence.

The ceremony was also attended by a Member of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, and senior civil, military, and police officers, and concluded with a reaffirmation of all stakeholders’ commitment to maintaining peace and supporting the continued development of Manipur.
