Imphal: Advancing the vision of a healthier and more resilient society, Assam Rifles organised a series of community outreach programmes across Bishnupur, Kakching and Tengnoupal districts in Manipur. These initiatives seamlessly integrated disease prevention with mental well-being, reflecting the commitment of the force to public health through active engagement and the promotion of sustainable lifestyle changes across the border regions.

Marking World Malaria Day 2026 under the global theme “Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can. Now We Must.”, Assam Rifles conducted an extensive awareness drive at Nambol in Bishnupur District. A total of 76 participants, including 45 local residents and community heads, attended the session which covered the causes and transmission modes of the disease. Detailed guidance was provided on maintaining hygiene and eliminating mosquito breeding sites, complemented by a practical demonstration on the correct method of using mosquito nets. Attendees were further educated on early symptom identification and the necessity of seeking timely medical treatment to prevent complications.

In a simultaneous effort to combat the disease, Assam Rifles carried out comprehensive awareness programmes and fumigation exercises in Kakching District. The initiative spanned Waikhong and Pangaltabi villages, covering multiple locations including The Modern English School, Saraswati Bal Vidya Mandir and IDP camps at Manjing and Chairel. Medical personnel educated residents on effective prevention strategies and early detection. These efforts at Forest Beat Office Waikhong and surrounding areas reinforced the commitment of the force to improving healthcare practices in remote locations while contributing significantly to the global fight against malaria.

In a parallel initiative at the Adullam Drug Rehabilitation Centre in Moreh, Tengnoupal District, Assam Rifles conducted a structured Yoga session for participants in recovery. This event was organised as part of the nationwide lead-up to the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026, supporting the Government’s initiative to institutionalise Yoga as a daily habit for holistic health. The session included guided meditation, breathing techniques and postures designed to foster emotional balance and physical strength. Recognising the transformative power of Yoga in recovery, a structured session was conducted for 31 participants. By promoting Yoga as a tool for self-discipline and inner resilience, the programme highlighted its vital role in long-term rehabilitation. These combined efforts reflect the multifaceted approach of Assam Rifles in ensuring a healthier, more resilient society through proactive engagement and sustainable health practices.
