Imphal: The Thadou Community International (TCI) has strongly condemned the brutal attack on Zairawn village in Manipur’s Jiribam district, which took place on the night of November 7, 2024, reportedly by suspected Meitei militants. Describing the attack as heinous and unjustifiable, TCI highlighted the severe impact it has had on the area’s fragile law and order situation.
In a statement, TCI expressed profound shock and sadness over the killing of Zosangkim, a Hmar woman and mother of three, during the attack. This act of violence has also led to the displacement of villagers, including children and the elderly, and resulted in significant property damage.
The TCI extended its deepest condolences to the victims’ families, expressing solidarity with the residents of Zairawn village. The organization urged authorities to take swift action to bring the attackers to justice and to ensure the safety and security of the village.
TCI also called on the community to resist falling prey to the divisive agendas of a few individuals who, it warned, seem to profit from violence at the cost of innocent lives. Reflecting on the broader implications, TCI emphasized that prolonged violence only deepens suffering among already disadvantaged communities and impedes development.
In its statement, TCI appealed to all right-minded individuals and civil organizations to denounce this senseless violence and to work collectively toward fostering a peaceful and secure environment for all.
