Manipur Fisheries Dept to host fish fair-cum-fish crop competition on Nov 2

Imphal: The Department of Fisheries, Manipur, is set to organize the State Level Fish Fair-cum-Fish Crop Competition, 2024, on November 2 at Hapta Kangleibung, Imphal East District, in celebration of the Ningol Chakouba Festival.

Fish farmers interested in participating must produce a minimum of 1,000 kg of fish and sell their produce at the department’s fixed rate for the event. The department will cover transportation costs for all participating farmers. Cash prizes are set at Rs 1,00,000 for the highest producer, Rs 70,000 for the second highest, and Rs 50,000 for the third. Additionally, the top producer of indigenous fish will receive Rs 20,000, and 20 fish farmers will each receive a consolation prize of Rs 10,000.

Interested farmers are encouraged to apply or contact their respective District Fishery Officers or Chief Executive Officers by October 30, 2024, according to a press release from the Director of Fisheries, Manipur.
