Imphal: Major General Gagan Deep, Additional Director General (ADG) of the NCC, North Eastern Region (NER) Directorate, is on a two-day visit to Manipur to oversee NCC training. During his visit, ADG met with the Hon’ble Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey, and Dr. Vineet Joshi, IAS, Chief Secretary of Manipur.
The Governor was briefed about the resumption of NCC training in the state, which had been halted due to the crisis, and discussed various issues regarding the NCC in Manipur.
ADG visited the NCC Group HQ in Imphal and observed the ongoing Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) of the 14 Manipur NCC Battalion at DM College, Imphal. He encouraged the cadets to instill a sense of national pride and become exemplary citizens, motivating them to excel in all their endeavors.
In his meeting with the Chief Secretary, discussions focused on NCC activities in Manipur, support from both the Central and State Governments, and strategies to strengthen NCC infrastructure in the state. Key topics included the construction of an NCC Training and Youth Academy in Imphal and the expansion of NCC programs across Manipur. The Chief Secretary was also briefed on two initiatives of the NER Directorate, Project Lai Hara and Project Yuva Bhagidari, aimed at youth empowerment.
The Chief Secretary assured the State Government’s full support for these initiatives. In turn, ADG assured the provision of quality training and grooming for NCC cadets, emphasizing the theme of National Integration.
