Kangpokpi: The District Election Officer (DEO)/Deputy Commissioner (DC), Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS, held a meeting with the Election Nodal Officers and District Level Officers today at the Conference Hall at the DC Complex, Kangpokpi given the preparations for the counting of votes on June 4, the day on which the results of the General Elections to the 18th Lok Sabha, 2024 held across the nation will be announced.
EVMs and VVPATs Strong Rooms of 46-Saikul (ST), 50-Kangpokpi and 51-Saitu (ST) of 2-Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency and also the Special Polling Stations of 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency and 2-Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency located at the premises of District Warehouse, Kangpokpi will be opened on 4th June, 2024 at 6 am for counting of votes as per schedule fixed by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
It will be opened in the presence of all contesting candidates/their election agents of 1-IMPC and 2-OMPC (ST) and duly authorised representatives of National and State political parties functioning within the Kangpokpi District.
In Friday’s meeting, the DEO/DC briefed the Election Nodal Officers and District Level Officers about their roles, responsibilities and arrangements that have been planned for a smooth and efficient counting process. These arrangements included power backup by MSPDCL in case of power shortage, offline web-casting, security checks of officials on duty inside the counting room and provision for refreshments.
The DEO/DC also urged all polling officials on duty to be punctual so that everything can be carried out on time as per the plan. As part of the security measures on the day, the officials on duty inside the counting room will also be issued Identity Cards and only authorized personnel will be allowed access to the room.
Meanwhile, on Friday a second round of training for the counting officials including Counting Supervisors, Counting Assistants, Counting Peons and Micro Observers was conducted at the Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council (SH-ADC), Kangpokpi. The training was imparted by Shri LM Len Singsit EO/SDO, Champhai. The training aimed to equip the officials with the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure an accurate and efficient counting process.
