Imphal: Security Forces arrested an active cadre of proscribed outfit KCP (Taibanganba) identified as Loitongbam Boyai Singh, 43, from Thoubal District on Monday.
He was involved in extortion activities in the general area of Yaripok-Nongpok Sekmai, a statement of Manipur police department said.
One pistol, 10 live ammunition, one hand grenade with one detonator, one bag containing Rs. 3000, one mobile phone and one Bolero vehicle were seized from his possession. A case has been registered for further investigation.
Movement of 222 vehicles along NH-02 with essential items has been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles.
A total of 129 Nakas/ Checkpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur both in the hill and the valley. Police detained 343 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the State, according to a press note from the Police control Room, Manipur Police.
