Imphal: Deepak Shijagurumayum, CEO MyGov Manipur and entrepreneur who is participating in the ongoing World Youth Festival in Sochi, Russia handed over a book titled “Beyond Headlines: Deconstructing the Manipur Unrest” to the Presidential Library of Russian Federation and Sirius University Library, Russia.

“Beyond Headlines: Deconstructing the Manipur Unrest” is edited by Homen Thangjam and published by Cultural Research Center Manipur.

The book has been conceptualised to disseminate knowledge to the policymakers, media fraternity and the general public regarding the ongoing violence gripping Manipur.

It offers an alternative perspective, challenging the simplified interpretations present in many writings. It argues that these accounts reduce the conflict to issues like Meitei ST inclusion, perceived discrimination, and development gaps, overlooking other crucial factors.

During the handover ceremony of the book, sharing his thoughts and perspectives on the book, Deepak also elaborately talked about the contents of the book to the delegates/participants of the festival. He also recommended the participants read the book to get an in-depth understanding of the genealogy and factors that led to the ongoing conflict in Manipur, India.

The book will be available at the Presidential Library, Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation and Sirius University Library.

Mentioned may be that the World Youth Festival is the largest youth event in the world being held by the Decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
