Kohima: Manipur’s Miss B. Tamphasana Devi won a bronze medal in the 52 kg category in the recently held Khelo India National Wushu Women League at Jharkhand capital – Ranchi.
Interestingly, she was sponsored and assisted by the Indian Army including travel expenses to participate in the prestigious game which was started from 24 February to 27 February 2024.
The 19-year-old athlete belongs to village Saitapur, Kumbi, Bishnupur district. Her dedication and hard work paid off and she won the bronze medal in the 52 Kg category.
The medal has been won during the challenging times faced by the atheletes and state of Manipur. Against all odds Tamphasana Devi showcased exceptional skill and determination, embodying the values of discipline and perseverance.
Proud achiever was felicitated by the Army at a simple felicitation ceremony held at Saitapur on Thursday.
This act underscores Indian Army’s unflinching resolve to nurture talent and provide resources for youth of the region. This also exemplifies the Army’s belief in the power of sports to inspire and unite people, a statement issued by Lt Col Amit Shukla, PRO, Defence said on Thursday.
