Imphal: In a classic display of intelligence sharing and synergy amongst the security forces deployed in Manipur, a joint operation of Assam Rifles, BSF and Manipur Police led to the recovery and disposal of a significant cache of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and related materials along Senam – Bongyang road.
A team of Assam Rifles personnel, accompanied by BSF & police, conducted a thorough search of the area resulting in the recovery of 45 IEDs, 700 meters of Cordex, and 300 meters of Flexible Wire.
Post-recovery, the area was sanitized, and the IEDs were safely destroyed in situ by the Bomb Disposal (BD) team.
In a similar event in Sangaikot, Churachandpur on December 12, 2023, a joint column of Assam Rifles, ITBP, CRPF and Manipur police launched an operation based on a specific input and recovered arms and explosives.
A total of 15 weapons including one SLR, one 9mm Pistol, one Revolver, eight improvised mortars, one Tear Gas Gun, three Single Barrel Rifles and country-made bombs along with explosives were recovered during the operation.
The recovered items have been handed over to Sangaikot Police Station, according to a press note from the PRO, HQ IGAR(S).
