Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday posted for September 19 the hearing of former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s plea requesting quashing the FIR against him in the Skill Development Corporation scam.
The High Court said it has to hear the arguments of both sides. At the same time, the High Court also gave time to the AP CID police to file a counter petition.
The AP high court directed the ACB court not to take up hearing till September 18 on the petition filed by the AP CID on giving Chandrababu Naidu to police custody for further questioning. It may be mentioned here that the AP CID police filed a petition in the ACB court seeking five days custody of Chandrababu Naidu for questioning.
The AP high court also postponed the hearing of Chandrababu Naidu’s petition on anticipatory bail in the Inner Ring Road irregularities to September 19. It may be mentioned here that the CID police another case against Chandrababu Naidu on the alleged irregularities which took place in the construction of Inner Ring Road.
The lawyers of Naidu led by Sidharth Luthra urged that the FIR against Naidu should be quashed since Anti Corruption Section 13 IPC 409 would not be applicable in the case. Cases registered against Naidu were politically motivated and as part of vindictive politics by the YSRCP government, the lawyers argued. However, the lawyers of AP CID led by P Sudhakar Reddy argued that all needed evidence was submitted to the court in this regard.
It may be mentioned here that ex-Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been lodged in the Rajahmundry Central prison as he was sent to 14 days judicial remand.
