Arunachal Congress expresses concern over Manipur violence, appeals for peace

The party asked the Manipur Government and the Union Government to “act swiftly and decisively to ensure the safety & security of the people

Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Friday expressed its concern over the escalating violence in Manipur which has led to huge loss of lives and properties, and appealed the Manipur Government and the Union Government to “act swiftly and decisively to ensure safety & security of the people and to prevent further damage of assets and loss of life” in the strife-torn state.

The APCC, which had a meeting with newly-appointed presidents of DCCs and CCC at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan here, appealed to all the people of Manipur to maintain peace and harmony. It conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives in the violence.

APCC president and former CM Nabam Tuki and CLP leader Lombo Tayeng, while congratulating the newly elected DCC presidents and CCC president of Itanagar Capital Region appealed to them to work tirelessly for the greater interest of the INC party and for strengthening the party organization in the state.

Earlier, the meeting started with a welcome speech by APCC vice-president Rajen Nani followed by felicitation and distribution of appointment letters to the newly elected presidents of District Congress Committees and City Congress Committee as approved by the All India Congress Committee, according to an APCC release here.
