Woman BJP leader found dead in Assam’s Goalpara district

Preliminary reports suggest that Jonali Nath was a victim of a suspected murder, with indications that she was assaulted before her body was callously abandoned on the national highway.

Guwahati: In a tragic incident, a female leader of the Assam Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was found dead in the Goalpara district of Assam.

The deceased has been identified as Jonali Nath, who held the position of Goalpara district  secretary within the Assam BJP.

Her lifeless body was found on the national highway 17 in Krishnai, Goalpara district on Sunday. Preliminary reports suggest that Jonali Nath was a victim of a suspected murder, with indications that she was assaulted before her body was callously abandoned on the national highway.

Local residents came across her remains late on Sunday night and immediately notified the authorities. There were visible injuries marks on her body. The Assam police has initiated an investigation into the case.
