Shillong: The Meghalaya government has requested visitors from states experiencing a surge of COVID-19 cases to self-isolate in this mountainous state, Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh said.

Lyngdoh said that the COVID-19 situation in Meghalaya is well under control, with only 15 active cases.

However, she appealed to the public to start wearing masks as a precautionary step towards preventing any possible outbreak of the infectious disease.

“I would suggest that citizens should police themselves so that we do not inconvenience the public at large,” Lyngdoh said.
