Chamarajnagar: Congress MLA C Puttarangashetty escaped from the scene when voters stopped him from entering Chamrajnagar area over his “incompetence” as a legislator.
The incident took place when the Congress MLA was on his way to embark on an election campaign in Chamarajanagar constituency. The voters accused the sitting MLA of visiting the constituency once in five years, especially in the run up to the elections.
The voters also questioned Puttarangashetty’s unresponsiveness during the time of festivals. They alleged that the Congress MLA failed to address the problem of load shedding by Bescom. This is a major issue which affects farmers and residents in the Chamarajanagar district.
The voters also expressed their ire over Puttarangashetty’s failure to fulfill the promise of designing and building a community hall in the area.
According to the Election Commission of India, polling to elect 224 MLAs will be conducted on May 10, with the counting of votes and declaration of results on May 13.
BJP, Congress and JDS are the principal parties vying to occupy the seat of power in the state.
