Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh extended his warm wishes to the Muslim brethren of the state on the beginning of holy Ramadan month.

In a statement on Tuesday, Chief Minister Biren said that fasting during Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam. It develops perseverance, self-restraint, discipline, social belongingness, unity and brotherhood.

For believers of Islam, fasting and praying to Allah during Ramzan/Ramadan purifies one’s mind, body heart and soul, the Chief Minister added.

Biren hoped that the observation will bring peace, happiness and prosperity to our state.
