Kohima: The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) is conducting the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Examination 2021 from Tuesday to April 29 next, where a total of 16835 candidates, 8194 are boys and 8641 are girls (Arts – 13024, Commerce – 1347 and Science – 2464) are appearing from 96 provisional examination centres.

According to official sources, the Nagaland Government has issued an order detailing prevention measures to be followed in case a candidate is tested COVID-19 positive during the conduct of the HSSLC Examinations from today and HSLC from tomorrow.

The order stated that any candidate who has tested COVID-19 positive shall not be allowed to enter the examination premises or appear for the examination. The candidate will be given another chance to appear for the subjects in which the candidate could not appear within the current year. The facility shall be given only to those candidates whose COVID-19 positivity has been certified by the Medical Department of the Government of Nagaland. Examination dates for such candidates are to be notified by the NBSE at a later date.

It was further ordered that a COVID-19 positive candidate on being tested negative shall be allowed to sit for the remaining subjects after producing a negative report to be certified by the Nagaland Medical Department. In such cases, the Centre Superintendent will make arrangement to let the candidates sit in a separate room maintaining the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). The NBSE has also been directed to keep question paper sets and examination materials ready to hold a separate examination for such candidates.

Tomorrow, altogether 23612 candidates would be appearing for the HSLC Examination 2021 from 133 provisional examination centres and four sub-centres from tomorrow. A total of 742 candidates would also be appearing for the HSLC Compartmental Examination 2021 from 41 examination centres. According to the Nagaland Board of School Education, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, more additional examination centres have been created in the districts and subdivisions in order to maintain social distancing in the examination centres.

NBSE has appealed to all the candidates to wear masks, observe social distancing norms and avoid contact with unknown persons to protect themselves. It also urged the parents and guardians to guide their ward on the important guidelines of Standard Operating Procedure and to follow it. NBSE has sought cooperation from all responsibility to avoid spreading COVID-19 during the conduct of the examinations.
