Slight respite from cold as night temperatures improves in Kashmir

Srinagar: There was a slight respite from intense cold as night temperature shows improvement amid cloud cover with forecast of light rain and snow at few places over higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

Kashmir weather, an independent weather observer Faizan Arif weather forecast of mainly cloudy weather is expected today over Jammu and Kashmir with chances of very light rain/ snow at a few places in higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir. No significant weather activity is expected till ending December. Another fresh feeble WD is expected on December 29-30, he said.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir recorded a low of minus 3.5 degree Celsius on Monday after it had experienced seasons lowest minus 5.8 degree Celsius a day ago.

Pahalgam in south Kashmir remained the coldest place with minus 5.7 degree Celsius against minus 7.0 degree Celsius recorded the previous night.

Qazigund on Srinagar Jammu national highway recorded a low of minus 4.2 degree Celsius against minus 5.0 degree Celsius recorded on Sunday.

Frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara had a low of minus 3.5 degree Celsius against minus 6.0 degree Celsius, while the temperature plunged to minus 2.5 degree Celsius at Kukernag against minus 2.2 degree the previous night.

Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 5.0 degree Celsius against minus 5.6 degree on Sunday, MeT office said.
