Imphal: The United Kingdom (UK) thrashed Indian Navy 16-0 in the opening match of the 14th Manipur Polo International tournament on Tuesday at the Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal.
The Indian Navy did not have any answers to the relentless onslaught of the UK. Harry Tucker and Phil Seller played splendidly, making massive contributions of six and five goals respectively.
Phil Seller opened the account for the UK as early as in the .47th minute of the 1st chukkar following it up with another goal in the 1.10 minute. Jack Tucker increased the UK lead to 3-0 in the 3.43rd minute, thereafter, Harry Tucker added two more goals in the 4.03rd minute and 6.42nd minute to end the 1st chukkar at 5-0 in favour of the UK.
The 2nd chukkar played in the same fashion as the 1st with the UK team pumping in five more goals. The Indian team once again failed to open its account and did not come anywhere near scoring a goal. The five goals were scored by Harry Tucker in the .49th minute, George Amore in 1.10th minute and 4.2nd minute and Phil seller in 1.50th minute and 3.01 minute respectively.
The Indian Navy had some respite in the 3rd chukkar as only two goals were scored against them. The goal scorers for the UK team in this chukkar were George Amore in the 3.2nd 2 minute and Jack Tucker in the 4.44th minute.
The 4th and final chukkar saw the UK team once again back in its devastating form banging in four more goals, to win the match 16-0. Harry Tucker, who had a very good match, scored three goals(5.21st minute, 6.03rd minute and 6.34th minute) in this chukkar while the other goal was scored by Phil Seller (1.29 the minute).
